Chamilandu Safari Camp
 Chamilandu
is a comfortable, stylish and elegant camp situated on the sandy banks
of the Luangwa River. A series of seven ox-bow lagoons around Chamilandu
yield diverse habitats and attracts abundant wildlife.
Our three chalets are raised upon stilts, and offer a unique form of
accommodation that we're confident you won't find easily elsewhere!
Location:
Chamilandu
offers an elevated view over the waters of the Luangwa River and has the
magnificent Nchindeni hills as a backdrop. One of our guests' favourite
pastimes is watching the sun rise over these mountains in the morning
whilst curled up in a luxurious four-poster bed. Chamilandu is exclusive
and private, a maximum of six clients at any given time means that our
staff can offer their undivided attention to you.
Accommodation:
Open
to a 180° vista, the front of each tree-house chalet provides the
exciting frame for all the wildlife of Luangwa Valley. The chalets offer
a private place from which to contemplate your next African adventure
whilst watching elephants mud-bathe in the lagoons below.
Open-air showers and en-suite bathrooms add to the sense of luxury.
The two metre high tree-house chalets are tastefully decorated in
wrought iron, brass and natural fabrics and are complete with
fantastic poster beds. Dinner is served in the spacious thatch-roof
bar area on the banks of the river, or in the spacious and secluded
hide, which overlooks a water hole.
Activities:
Specializing
in guided walking safaris, The Bushcamp Company prides itself on
first-class guiding. This area is home to an abundance of wildlife and
the river attracts huge pods of hippos, crocodiles and wonderful bird
life.
Catering for all safari tastes, Chamilandu offers both morning and
evening walks and combinations of day and night game drives. The
lagoons offer some unforgettable sights, particularly in terms of
the immense pods of hippo, where the shallow waters of the Luangwa
and its oxbow lakes offer meagre shelter from the strong sun.
Good sightings of leopard, wild dogs, and for the last four years
a huge colony of Carmine Bee Waters has come during later parts of
the year and nested opposite the camp. Last season we built a hide
behind the camp with a small waterhole, which is a great place to
relax and watch the elephants come down to drink.
