Chindeni Safari Camp
Chindeni
is one of the Luangwa's most luxurious, well-furnished bushcamps. Its
four impressive tents come complete with large writing desks and deck
chairs on a wooden veranda.
There's an open-air central dining/bar area on wooden decking,
overlooking the permanent Chayumba Lagoon. The lagoon attracts a large
variety of game including elephants which are a delight to watch as they
drink and the little ones play in the water.
Location:
Chindeni
is nestled on the banks of a lagoon, home to a magnificent selection of
birds, as well as hippos and crocodiles. The camp is approximately two
and a half hours’ drive from the entrance to the national park. The
lagoon has water in all year round so later in the year, when there is
very little water around, lots of game concentrates here.
Accommodation:
Raised
over the lagoon on wooden decking, Chindeni’s four en-suite tents offer
luxury facilities. Each tent has its own private raised veranda
overlooking the colourful lagoon, which makes an ideal platform to view
the resident big game or to simply enjoy the serenity of the lagoon.
Each spacious safari tent has 2 queen-sized beds, hot and cold
running water, shower, toilet, double vanities and polished wooden
flooring. Many people spend the morning or afternoon viewing from
the deck. The camp also over looks the Nchindeni hills, which
provides spectacular sunsets. Dining options from Chindeni are
varied and clients can eat on the main viewing platform deck, or in
the dining area, or down on the 'beach' area besides the lagoon.
Activities:
Chindeni
is only a six kilometre walk from
Bilimungwe and we regularly do early morning walks between the two
so that guests can experience both of the camps. As with all our camps,
walking is a primary activity, although Chindeni offers a huge
concentration of animals within easy view of the camp; making relaxation
a viable and popular alternative.
