Kapamba Safari Camp
Kapamba
is our newest camp and is the only bush camp to stay open until the end
of December. It is one of South Luangwa’s southernmost camps.
The camp is in keeping with traditional bushcamps, being remote and
unspoilt, but has amenities such as hot and cold running water,
electricity and spacious chalets with open-air bathrooms.
Location:
Kapamba
is deeper into the heart of the national park than the rest of our
parks, and lays claim to being the only camp on the Kapamba River. This
remoteness is fantastic for walks, and the lion population is
particularly high in this area for those guests interested in the big
cats!
Accommodation:
Each
chalet is spacious and designed with the utmost attention to detail.
Stone interiors and bold fabrics give the camp a contemporary yet
tasteful look. The bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms are completely open
to the front, with individually designed metallic gates ensuring guests
are kept safe from the many creatures of the night.
The king-sized or twin beds are sunken into a stone base and
overlook the river and offer splendid views from their respective
pillows!
En-suite bathrooms are spacious and contemporary, dominated by a
sunken double-sized stone bath. The open-plan design ensures guests
can stargaze and listen to the sounds of the night while soaking in
these magnificent and luxurious tubs. Double brass shower heads are
mounted over the bath.
The camp also boasts a spacious bar area overlooking the Kapamba
River.
Activities:
The
baths at Kapamba are huge, so most of our guests love to lie in the bath
and watch the game as it comes to drink from the river. Walking is
excellent and there are always plenty of lions in this area. Many of the
walks are done following the Kapamba River. As the river is clear it has
no crocodiles (who need the murky water as camouflage), so is perfect
for cooling off with a quick dip in the evening!
Additionally, as with all our camps, we do game drives, and can
offer a combination of both walking and driving; utilising the range
that vehicles offer us and the raw experience of being on foot.
As Kapamba is the only camp open from April until December, it
makes a perfect combination for the Emerald Season with
Mfuwe Lodge...where the access that
Mfuwe offers can be combined with the wilder experience of Kapamba.
