Travelling in Africa - Information

People often underestimate the sheer size of the African continent,
and the lack of a permanent infrastructure makes travelling here a
slightly different affair to what you might be used to. We've tried to
outline a few of the basic things that an African traveller might
expect...should you book with us your itinerary will go into greater and
more specific detail.
Because of the distances involved, much of your travelling will be
done by air; both internationally and internally. To get to Luangwa we
predominantly use light aircraft, and then cover distance over-ground in
specially adapted vehicles. Your itinerary will explain what mode of
transport to expect at each destination...we typically arrange to either
have your plane or Land Rover to be waiting for you when travelling to
the next location. More information on this can be found in the
Flights / Transfers section.
If you'd like to have a look at whereabouts The Bushcamp Company is
in relation to the rest of the world, we've provided a number of maps
and satellite imagery that can be found in
Maps of the Area. Included within this part of the site is an
interactive map that will show you the location of camps and allow you
to zoom in and out of the area on demand.
Medical Advice is pretty much
self-explanatory, and whilst we recommend (and insist) that you consult
with your doctor before travelling to Africa, some standard precautions
and concerns are to be had by every visitor, and this section will cover
a few of the basics. Once again, your booking will give you up-to-date
advice on what you need to do in order to travel through Africa safely,
and we have our consultants readily available for any questions. Just
give us a buzz! |
