The area that we operate in is simply immense; chances are you won't see anyone but us whilst you're here. Check out these aerial photographs!

did you know?

The did you know feature is quite good, but I'll need to have a PHP compliant server in order to implement it without too much strain browser side.
It's a quick script, so something I can do once the site is live.

A Typical Itinerary

As described in What We Do, we specialise in bushcamps that provide unique retreats in a highly isolated area of Southern Africa. Our high standards and personal attention to detail make each camp an individual luxury for the traveller, coupling the adventure of African bush walking with the opportunity to spoil yourself afterwards; our excellent staff catering for your every need.

The Bushcamp Company's classical safari ethos is typically that of walking between our camps; allowing guests to experience Africa first-hand and then relax in the comfort of a pre-established camp. Each trip that we make is customised to your preferences, and so it is with some hesitation that we present a "typical" itinerary. However, past experience has given us a great deal of insight into what it is that makes a perfect trip, and we tend to recommend something that follows these lines:

9 Day / 8 Night Mobile Walking Safari

DAY ONE

After arriving in Lusaka or Lilongwe Airport, a representative from the charter company will meet you and transfer you onto a light aircraft to Mfuwe International Airport. Here, we will collect you in an open Land Rover, and drive back to Mfuwe Lodge.
One of only two permanent lodges inside the National Park, we're open 12 months of the year (something that is only possible because of an excellent all-weather road network in the area - a luxury in Africa!).

Following dinner, your first night in Africa will be accompanied by a night-time game drive.

DAY TWO AND THREE

The next morning will bring a road transfer to Chamilandu, assuming no elephant or buffalo road stops!

Chamilandu is the perfect home for a romantic; our tree house chalets are open to a 180° vista of seven oxbow lagoons and ebony groves that will be explored over the next two days. We're lucky to have this location, it's one of the prime river venues of the National Park and has a tremendous abundance of game coming for the water supply.

DAY FOUR AND FIVE

After an early breakfast at Chamilandu, a walking trail will take us to Chindeni where a hearty brunch will greet you.

Spend two nights at Chindeni viewing the game from your own private, raised wooden decking over the still waters of the lagoon and exploring the evergreen forests on foot. Surrounded by majestic hills, shaded by ancient ebonies and nestled on the apex of an oxbow lagoon, Chindeni helps weave the spell that is Africa.

DAY SIX AND SEVEN

Walking south once more, towards the confluence of the Kapamba and Luangwa rivers, Bilimungwe bush camp holds the distinction of being the southernmost camp in the National park.

It offers not only the solitude that comes with this remoteness, but also the ideal opportunity to discover yet another face of the Luangwa Valley, exploring on foot or in a vehicle.

DAY EIGHT

Return by road to Mfuwe Lodge to recuperate and collect your thoughts, photographs and memories. Great food and company will conclude your trip, sipping sundowners at the pool side whilst elephants mud bathe in the lagoon below.

DAY NINE

Return transfer back to Mfuwe International Airport for your flight in a light aircraft back to either Lusaka or Lilongwe (dependant on where your onward flight is from).
